This is a Request for Information (RFI) from the NIH BRAIN Initiative that solicits input about advancing human neuroscience research on brain-behavior relationships through coordinated efforts involving neural stimulation and recording. This RFI seeks input from scientific research communities, healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, people with lived experience of brain or behavioral health disorders, educators, and other interested parties. The NIH encourages organizations (e.g., patient advocacy groups, professional organizations) to submit a single response reflective of the views of the organization and membership as a whole.

Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Translation of BRAIN Initiative Technologies to the Marketplace

This Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) encourages the translation of the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative-supported technologies from academic and other non-small business research sectors to the marketplace. Small Business Concerns (SBCs) are encouraged to submit Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant applications that propose to further develop, optimize, validate and scale such technologies for commercial dissemination. Additionally, SBIR and STTR applications supporting the development and commercialization of novel technologies that fit within the mission of the BRAIN Initiative are encouraged.

Notice of Information: NINDS will increase the salary allowance for K00 awardees for NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award (F99/K00)

The purpose of this notice is to inform the community that the NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative are changing the funding allowance for K00 awards to RFA-NS-21-012, RFA-NS-19-011, and RFA-NS-18-007.This change will apply to all new and continuing NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative F99/K00 awards. Currently, the NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative provides up to $58,000 salary during the K00 phase. Effective for new and continuing K00 awards made with FY2024 funds, the NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative will contribute up to $60,000 in the first year toward the salary of the career award recipient. This will be increased to $63,300 for the second year, to $66,600 for the third year, and to $69,900 for a fourth year.
Request for Information (RFI): BRAIN Initiative: Brain Behavior Quantification and Synchronization: Guidance for Opportunities in Development of Sensor Technology Hubs

This is a request for information to gather ideas and commentary on the potential development and program planning of hubs or centers for testing sensor performance. Responses will be examined for enthusiasm and general support for the creation of several hubs for testing sensors that are developed by not only NIH awardees, but the broader engineering community.
